I have a story to tell one of many here this one here!
I received a call Thursday from a client named Colleen. She lives up north and has a brother here in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, who had a medical emergency.
When I got the call, she asked me if I had an opening for Saturday around 11:00 AM. My question to her was, "What’s the situation so I can speak in detail if we could help at that specific time?" She went on to explain that her brother's living condition wasn’t good for him to return home to recuperate; hospital staff conveyed to her that his apartment was a disaster and he could not return until corrections were made.
His sister had no idea what to expect when she opened that unit, but after finding me online and reading my history and track record in these situations, she wanted to have me there. She didn't have the foggiest idea of what she might see, but nothing surprises us—at Efficient Cleaning Service, we have seen and done it all. I personally call these situations "affairs of the heart." They are touching to me; family issues can run very deep, and no one is above the fray. We all have internal family problems—who doesn’t?
Mission accomplished. The daughter found out about his condition after he came from the hospital. He didn’t want her to come into the apartment, so she initially agreed not to. However, after he went in, she made her way into the building and waited until he opened the door to come out. She pushed her way in to see the condition of how her father was living and she was horrified. In the bedroom, you would never think there was a bed in the room until we uncovered it and removed all the boxes, tools, bike parts, and so on. He hadn’t slept in that bed for years.
The bathroom was unacceptable for bathing; paint cans, solvents, chemicals, and garage items were everywhere, creating unsanitary conditions. The kitchen was a mess. We brought it back to life, removing spoiled food from the refrigerator and cleaning a very dirty stove and microwave. The father had more content than the apartment could hold, but Efficient Cleaning Service did some magic work so he could have a nice return to resume his life after surgery. There was no drug abuse or alcohol issues, just a personal problem—and we all have problems; some are just more severe than others.
